TechCrunch Elements

Learn how to set up, publish, and optimize your HipDeck workspace.

The TechCrunch Element brings the latest technology news directly to your digital signage displays. Sourced from TechCrunch — one of the world's leading technology media outlets — this element keeps your audience informed with up-to-date headlines and articles in a visually engaging format.

What Is the TechCrunch Element?

The TechCrunch Element is a dynamic content block that fetches and displays the latest tech news articles from TechCrunch. It can be presented in two distinct display modes to suit different screen layouts and audience contexts:

  • Article Cards — Full article previews featuring headlines, article content snippets, and images.
  • Scrolling Ticker — A compact, continuously scrolling banner of the latest TechCrunch headlines.

Both modes pull live data from TechCrunch, ensuring your displays always show current and relevant technology news without any manual updates.

How to Add the TechCrunch Element to a Slide

Adding the TechCrunch Element to your slide is straightforward. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the slide editor and navigate to the Elements panel.
  2. Search for or browse to the TechCrunch Element in the element library.
  3. Drag and drop the element onto your slide canvas, or click to insert it.
  4. Use the element settings panel to choose your preferred display mode and configure any additional options.
  5. Save your slide. The element will begin fetching live TechCrunch content automatically.

Display Modes

The TechCrunch Element offers two display modes, each suited to different presentation needs and screen real estate.

Article Cards

Article Cards mode displays TechCrunch stories as visually rich content cards. Each card includes the article headline, a short content excerpt, and an accompanying image. This mode is ideal for larger screens or dedicated news zones where you want to give articles prominent visual presence.

Scrolling Ticker

The Scrolling Ticker mode presents a continuous horizontal stream of TechCrunch headlines moving across the bottom or top of the screen. This is a space-efficient option that keeps viewers informed without dominating the display layout — perfect for pairing with other content elements on the same slide.

Image Display Mode

When using Article Cards mode, article images are rendered using Cover display mode. In Cover mode, images fill the entire card area, cropping and scaling to maintain a consistent, polished appearance regardless of the original image dimensions. This ensures a uniform and professional look across all displayed articles.

Use Cases

The TechCrunch Element is particularly well-suited to environments where technology, innovation, and industry awareness are central to the culture or audience. Recommended use cases include:

  • Tech Company Offices — Keep employees and visitors up to date with the latest industry news, product launches, and startup activity.
  • Co-Working Spaces — Provide members with a shared news feed that sparks conversation and keeps the community engaged with the broader tech ecosystem.
  • Innovation Hubs & Accelerators — Inspire teams and founders with real-time coverage of emerging technologies, funding rounds, and industry trends.

Internet Connection Requirement

The TechCrunch Element requires an active internet connection to function. Because it fetches live article data directly from TechCrunch, the display device must have reliable internet access at all times. If the connection is interrupted, the element will be unable to load or refresh content until connectivity is restored. Ensure your display hardware is connected to a stable network before deploying this element.
