Upload Your Assets

Learn how to set up, publish, and optimize your HipDeck workspace.

Assets are the building blocks of everything you create in HipDeck. Images, videos, and other media files — collectively called assets — are what power your playlists and screens. Before you can build a playlist or schedule content for display, you'll need to upload your media to the Asset Library.

This guide walks you through uploading your first assets, understanding supported file types and size limits, and keeping your library organized so you can find what you need quickly. Let's get started.

Step 1: Open the Asset Library

From your HipDeck dashboard, click on Assets in the main navigation menu. This opens the Asset Library — your central hub for all uploaded media. Here you'll see a grid view of every image and video you've added to your account, along with any folders and tags you've created to keep things tidy.

If this is your first time visiting the Asset Library, it will be empty — and that's perfectly fine. You're just a few clicks away from filling it with your content.

Step 2: Upload Your Files

Click the Upload button in the top-right corner of the Asset Library. You can select one or multiple files at once from your computer, or simply drag and drop them directly into the library. HipDeck supports the following file types:

  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP (up to 50 MB per file)
  • Videos: MP4, MOV (up to 2 GB per file)

Once your files are selected, HipDeck will begin uploading them and show a progress indicator for each one. Larger video files may take a moment depending on your connection speed. When the upload is complete, your assets will appear in the library and are ready to use.

Step 3: Organize with Folders and Tags

As your library grows, staying organized makes it much easier to find the right asset at the right time. HipDeck gives you two ways to organize your media: folders and tags. Create folders to group assets by campaign, location, or content type — whatever structure makes sense for your workflow. To create a folder, click New Folder in the sidebar and give it a name.

Tags are great for cross-referencing assets that belong to multiple categories. Select any asset and click Add Tag to label it with keywords like "seasonal", "promo", or "landscape". You can filter the library by tag at any time using the search bar at the top of the page.

What's Next

Now that your assets are uploaded and organized, you're ready to put them to work. Head over to the Build Your First Playlist guide to learn how to combine your images and videos into a polished, scheduled playlist that plays across your HipDeck screens.
